Main street music program

  • Share Your Music at the Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital is excited to introduce our Main Street Music Program, bringing live music into the heart of our hospital community.

We are seeking talented musicians and performers who wish to volunteer their time to help create a welcoming, uplifting and engaging atmosphere for patients, families, visitors and staff. Through the power of music, we aim to enhance the hospital experience by providing moments of comfort, connection and enjoyment throughout the day.

We welcome performers from all musical backgrounds and cultures and encourage applications from individuals and groups of all sizes. Whether your style is classical, acoustic, jazz, folk, cultural, contemporary or something uniquely your own, we would love to hear from you.

     Performance Opportunities

Performers may express interest in either:

    • Regular scheduled performances
    • One-off special performances

Performances will take place on Main Street (Ground Floor, the main hospital entrance and walkway area) within the hospital (not in clinical or ward areas).

    Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Main Street Music Program, applicants must:

    • Complete an Expression of Interest form
    • Be available to perform between Monday and Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm
    • Submit a sample recording or video of a past performance
    • Hold a current Working with Children Check
    • Provide their own instruments, equipment and audio/visual requirements

All applications and performances will be reviewed and approved by the Family Services Team.

     Your Music

We are looking for performances that are:

    • Calming and relaxing
    • Positive and uplifting
    • Appropriate for a diverse hospital environment (think more background music)
    • Enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds

Performance sessions should generally run for a minimum of 30 minutes and may be up to 2 hours in duration.

Help Us Create Moments That Matter

Music has the power to brighten a day, reduce stress and create meaningful moments of connection. By sharing your talent with our hospital community, you can help make the Royal Children's Hospital a more welcoming and supportive place for everyone who walks through our doors.

We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest Form and become part of the Main Street Music Program.
